Dreaming in Japan

Residency at Rice Valley Projects, Nantan shi, Kyoto. + Research residency at Tenjinyama Art Centers, Sapporo and exhibition at Engramme, Quebec City, 2017.

“Dreaming in Japan” is a collaborative project enabling a community to narrate a collective imaginary about sites or heritage buildings that are meaningful to them but that have been abandoned or demolished.  Using digital compositing to merge hand drawings and photographs of explored sites, the resulting artworks are depicting historical elements and memories collected from interviews and from public archives. This body of works was created during a residency at Rice Valley Projects in the Kyoto prefecture and exhibited in June 2017 at Engramme, a printmaking center and gallery in Québec City.
